"...They build us a beautiful heirloom quality cabinet. Because we are so impressed with their design and work, we never hesitate to recommend DreamMaker when anyone is looking for great work and a quality product at a fair price. "

- Doug & Carol Bergerson

DreamMaker recently made its way to the lakes area way of Audubon's JCS Cabinets.  Owned and operated by Darcy and Jenny Savig, the custom cabinet company brings more than 30 years of cabinet building expertise to DreamMaker.

"My dad started the business in 1969," Darcy Savig explained, "I started working out here in 1988 and took over the business in 2003."

With JCS Cabinets recently becoming a DreamMaker Bath & Kitchen franchise, lakes area as well as Red River Valley residents will now have the best of both worlds, added Savig.

In addition to being a local cabinet-making shop with 39 years of experience, DreamMaker now gives them access top specialized training, brand-named vendors and a new region to tackle.

Savig's DreamMaker Bath & Kitchen will therefore carry lines of fixtures from a variety of name brand vendors like American Standard, Moen and Corian, making it a service remodeling, design and installation company, providing customers one source for their kitchen and bath remodeling needs.

"We wear a lot of hats around here, custom cabinet maker, remodeler and designer.  Whether a customer is considering a complete remodeling job or a simple remodeling facelift, we can really do it all," Savig said.  "And we can start by having customers just bring in a picture and we can go from there."

And with their cabinet building prowess, the local DreamMaker franchise has the knowledge to create cabinets for more than just the bath and kitchen applications. They do everything from fireplace surrounds to entertainment centers too.

"We can make almost anything and can even build cabinets for lots of tricky spaces like odd-shaped corners or nooks - something we have been doing for years," remarked Jenny Savig.

Sometimes people get a little nervous when you mention custom cabinets, noted Darcy Savig, but costs are usually equivalent to purchasing higher-end pre-built cabinets, he added.

Through the years, most of Savig's business has traditionally come from around the lakes area and sometimes beyond.  With the advent of DreamMaker, the Red River Valley is now a main consideration as well.

Said Darcy Savig: "We hope to open a showroom soon in Fargo.  With the DreamMaker franchise, we needed to commit to buying a territory that included at least a 250,000-person base, so we bought the rights for Cass County in North Dakota and Clay and Becker in Minnesota."

There are two other DreamMaker franchise territories in Minnesota: one in Rochester, the other in Minneapolis.

"We've been here for 30 years but still on occasion run into people who aren't familiar with the name," he said.  "With DreamMaker we will also get a whole new client base.  It's a good next step for our business.

JCS Cabinets is still a family affair, even with its new territories and franchise affiliations,  Darcy and Jenny are the company's key personnel, along with Darcy's father Jim who lends a hand even though semi-retired.

"DreamMaker has given us lots of great training," explained Savig, "Its funny, we've run the business since 2003 but with the classes at DreamMaker's headquarters in Waco, Texas, we have learned lots of great business management strategies."

Honored as the National Remodeler of the Year by Professional Remodeler magazine, DreamMaker Bath & Kitchen is also a national member of the National Kitchen and Bath Association, the National Association of the Remodeling Industry, the Remodelers council of the National Association of Home Builders and the International Franchise Association.

"They have been very supportive and have also given us a franchise service manager, someone who we can contact if we have questions which is great," explained Jenny Savig.  "He also checks in with us every week to see how things are going." she continued.

Looking to the future, the Savig's anticipate adding a few more employees in addition to opening their new Fargo showroom.

"We were approached by DreamMaker about opening a franchise and after a lot of research and actually meeting with company heads, we decided to do it," said Jenny Savig, "It has been an exciting experience which has opened a lot of new doors for us."
